1 stick Cinnamon 
2-3 Cloves
1 teaspoon Cumin 
1 Chopped onion/shallots chopped 
1.5 teaspoon Ginger - Green chillies - coriander paste
1 cup Finely chopped vegetables like carrots, potatoes and beans 
1 cup Rice soaked 
Salt to taste 
2 cup Coconut milk 
2 teaspoon Oil 


  1. In a cooker, heat oil and add cinnamon, bay leaves, cloves, cumin saute till the whole spices bloom. 
  2. Add the onions, green chili paste, and vegetables and stir till vegetables get cooked a little. 
  3. Finally add the soaked rice along with salt and coconut milk. 
  4. Cover and pressure cook for 1 to 2 whistles or for 8 to 9 minutes.
  5. When the pressure settles down naturally, open the lid and gently fluff the rice.
  6. Garnish with some chopped coriander or mint leaves. Serve coconut milk pulao with a side dish of raita or some pickle and salad.
