Damni Dhokla recipe - Allo recipies

Welcome to my blog where I'll be sharing a delicious and easy recipe for Damni Dhokla! Dhokla is a popular Gujarati dish made from fermented batter typically made with gram flour (besan), buttermilk, and spices. Damni Dhokla is a special variation of this dish where two different types of batter are layered together to create a unique and beautiful look. This dish is not only tasty but also very healthy as it is steamed, low in fat, and full of protein. It is perfect for a quick and nutritious breakfast, lunch, or snack. So, let's get started with the recipe and enjoy the delightful flavors of Damni Dhokla!

Ingredients

1 cup jowar
1 cup pearl millet 
1 cup bengal gram dal
1 cup rice 
1 cup urad dal 
Water 
Boiled Carrot diced into small pieces 
Green peas blanched 
Black chickpeas boiled 
Ginger grated 
Green chilli paste 
Jaggery 
Red chilli powder 
Turmeric powder 
Salt 
Asafoetida
Achar masala
Fruit salt 


Instructions

  1. Soak jowar, pearl millet, bengal gram, rice and urad dal for 4-5 hours and blend it into a fine paste. 
  2. Add the carrots, peas, chickpeas, chilli paste, jaggery, red chili powder, turmeric, salt, asofeotida, achar masala and fruit salt. Mix well and let it ferment for 6-7 hours. 
  3. After fermenting poura spoonful of batter in a leaf cone and steam to 12-15  mins
