2 tbsps butter
1 tsp cumin seeds
3 cloves of garlic
1 tsp ginger paste
2 dried red chillies
1 green chilli
1 onion (medium sized)
1 tomato
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsps coriander powder
2 tsps chilli powder
1 tsp garam masala
Salt to taste
1/3 cup toor dal/ split pigeon pea
2 tbsps masoor dal/ red lentils
1 tbsp lemon juice
Coriander (optional)
For tempering
2 tbsps ghee
1 tsp cumin seeds
2 cloves of garlic
1 tsp chilli powder
2 dried red chillies
1.Soak the dal for 30 minutes and cook it completely.
2.To a pan add butter,cumin seeds,garlic,ginger paste, chillies and cook until fragrant.
3.Add in the chopped onion and cook until it’s translucent .
4.Add in the chopped tomato,salt,spices and cook until it’s mushy.
5.Add the cooked dal and simmer for 5-7 minutes.
6.Add the lemon juice and coriander.
7.To a separate pan add ghee,garlic,cumin seeds,chilli powder and dried red chilli for tempering. Add it to the dal and your dal Tadka is ready!
